This year’s musical is “THE MUSIC MAN!” by Meredith Wilson, Poly’s first “Golden Age Musical”!

The original Broadway production of “The Music Man” was originally a big hit in 1957, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical (over West Side Story!), and running 1,375 performances. In the years 2000 and 2020, revivals won the Tony for “Best Revival of a Musical” among other top awards. It features a Barbershop Choir, Marching Band, epic dance numbers, and features memorable, songs “Ya Got Trouble”, “Seventy-Six Trombones” and “Til There Was You”.

The Music Man

February 25-27th in the Poly Auditorium!  

All Poly students who can commit to an after-school rehearsal schedule December 1st-February 27th are welcome to audition. 

  • Movement/Dance auditions are Tuesday, November 6th in the Auditorium.  No preparation necessary, but come dressed to move!

Dance auditions are early to avoid conflict with fall dance show!

  • Singing auditions are Monday-Tuesday, November 16-17 in 851, the Poly Playhouse.   Prepare a memorized one minute singing audition from a musical theatre song with a karaoke track.  Your singing audition is an acting audition!

  • Qualifying students will be called back for further acting auditions 18-19th.  

  • Vocal auditions and Callbacks are in room 851, the Poly Playhouse, from 4:00 - 5:45.  When you are finished with your audition, you may leave. A vocal audition may be submitted to lbon@lbschools.net for those who cannot attend singing auditions. Deadline November 17th.

  • If you miss dance auditions, you may learn the combo in 851 during Monday lunch on the 9th and audition Tuesday the 10th  during lunch.  But it’s better not to miss!

  • EVERYONE is better at either dance OR singing. You must show your willingness to try BOTH by submitting both auditions, but a recorded singing audition is accepted if you just want to be considered for chorus. 

  • Every role doesn’t require high levels of dancing and singing.  Just do your best and have fun!
